So I decided since that finals were over and I had nothing better to do with myself, I’d head down to Irvine a little early and railfan before the Holiday Toy Express got there. Well, apparently sitting in your car in an empty parking lot watching trains go by makes you a suspect for 'stealing cars and blowing up bridges.' So I was very angry (left over rage from finals week and then having the security guard threaten to get the cops on me for watching trains go by.) So I randomly found the parking lot of a restaurant which happens to be right next to the Surfline. 1.) Northbound Surfliner pushed by the anniversary unity hauling towards Los Angeles. I then decided that parking lots hadn't been good for me today, so maybe I should go find someplace else. While trying to find that 'someplace else,' I saw a Surfliner approaching, so I decided to pull into a parking lot (I know... I know....) and catch it. 3.) I found my 'someplace else.' It was a very nice park next to the tracks. Nice neighborhood, excellent view, and no being accused of being a terrorist/auto thief. A Metrolink hauls on it's way into Tustin station. 4.) An Amtrak Surfliner barrels south down the surfline. 5.) I headed back to Irvine Station to watch the Holiday Toy Express. (The security guard had wanted me to go home and then come back.
