for the second time in seven minute thumbnail 06:02 pm months, albuquerque’s red-light cameras will be turned off temporarily. it happens at midnight. that's when the city's contract with redflex expires. redflex is the arizona-based company that operates the program. all of the cameras will go dark for at least two weeks. two weeks from today, the city council will vote whether to approve a new contract extension. and there's a question over whether the people of albuquerque really want to have this kind of law enforcement when it comes to our intersections, when it comes to speeding i don't care for them, i wish they weren't there, i would rather an officer would be there so you can debate what happened at its next meeting — the city council will also decide whether to allow voters to decide the future of the red-light camera program. if passed -- the issue would be put on the october ballot.
