I don't want to think about it. Today I went to El Tule, where they boast hosting the world's largest tree. It isn't a tall tree but it does have a mighty circumference. The tree is over 2000 years old. Wrap your minds around that one. Most of my time was spent figuring out how to get to El Tule. I found a bus thanks to two random people waiting on the street. I was hoping I would recognize the place - see a sign or something when I got there. I did. The tree was big. There's no hugging that tree with fewer than 50 people. Getting back to Oaxaca was another challenge. I grabbed a collectivo, saying "A Oxaca?" as I boarded. The woman behind me said "The tourist didn't say where in Oaxaca." I didn't know where! I'm just trying to live my life! I was in the middle in the front of the sedan, which meant my leg was bent around the stickshift. I asked for the driver to stop at a random spot in Oaxaca and then went to ask a shopkeeper how to get to the zocalo. It turned out I wasn't that far away. I have no idea how that happened. I had a lunch of mole chicken at the mercado. Yum. The woman who made it for me insisted it wasn't expensive. I told her I agreed. Several times. Maybe I had a money-pinching expression on my face.
