The British media is reeling after the shock decision to close popular tabloid The News Of The World on Thursday. The paper, owned by Rupert Murdoch’s media group News International, had been subject to repeat allegations over the last 5 years about phone hacking against celebrities and royalty. But new revelations that journalists had listened to the voicemails of ordinary members of the public, including a murdered schoolgirl and war widows, has led to a very public outcry.
