Only 3 1/2 weeks after his accident, Muning has gained some use of his legs! Muning went missing in the middle of December 2010. There were times in the past when he didn’t come home, but no more than a day or two. 3 days later, we searched high and low for him, and on Tuesday the 21st, I finally found him at the Peninsula Humane Society. Someone called Animal Control about an an injured cat and he was picked up and brought to the hospital. Unsure if it was due to a fall, or if he got hit by a car, or if he got into a fight with another animal, he was in bad shape. Many thanks to Dr. Janowitz who did not give up on him after several days of treating him. I took him to another hospital and even a specialist regarding his condition. He was paralyzed on the lower half of his body. He couldn't move his legs at all, and didn't even have reflex or feelings on his tail. The vets said I would probably have to express his bladder for the rest of his life, and might have other complications from the paralysis. I was given the option to just euthanize him, but I wasn't ready to let him go. I couldn't afford the other treatments either, so I told the vets that I would just take him home and do everything to make him comfortable *if* his health didn't improve. Slowly, but surely, he began to feel better. He even started peeing and defecating on his own only days after I took him home! We just made sure he ate, drank water, and rested.
