The question on probably a lot of people's minds today in the sports world is - what the heck was Jay-Z thinking??? Jay-Z's visit to the Kentucky locker room after the Wildcats secured a spot in the Final Four has come back to haunt the billionaire rapper. Rightfully so! Jay-Z, a minority owner of the New Jersey Nets, has been fined $50000 from the NBA for forbidden contact with collegiate players. NBA rules ban any team personnel from having contact with players who are not yet entered into the draft. The theory is that it gives an advantage into scouting. Jay-Z's visit was a surprise as he entered the locker room during the Wildcats celebration and started shaking hands and snapping pictures with the team. Celebrity sightings aren't exactly out of the norm for Kentucky. Rapper Drake showed up in Kentucky's locker room several times after victories during the 2010 NCAA tournament and Ashley Judd and LeBron James have also made appearances. But the difference between them and Jay-Z is that none of them have a monetary stake in an NBA team. Kentucky has at least four players that could be NBA draft picks in June. We all know that $50000 isn't much for someone like Jay-Z but let's hope that he learns his lesson from this and stays out of collegiate locker rooms.
