For me, there is a profound beauty to behold in the rhythmic responses of our surrounding world. It’s expression can be easily appreciated whether it is to be found in the mathematical order of celestial bodies and ocean tides, or within the more manufactured or chaotic systems of musical composition and seasonal change. In any case, rhythms natural cadence and familiar measure often provides a sense of unity and comfort when shared, a sign of synchronicity between ourselves and our enviornment. It was with this thought in mind that I created the following video, entitled rhythm, after watching the vertical blinds which hang from my bedroom window breathe in and out with the respiration of the bay breeze outside. The sound and motion of this simple event seemed all to enchanting to me, hypnotizing me with it's graceful dance of play of light. So, I decided to record that event and share it's magical "rhythm" with all of you.
