New research indicates hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) relieves fatigue, muscle strain, and joint pain associated with dancing. The research was conducted by the Hyperbaric Treatment Assocation, under the direction of Dr. Michelle R. Reillo, at the Arthur Murray Studio of St. Augustine Florida, owned by Mr. Ahmed Hussien. Professional dancers Peter and Alexandra Perzhu, depicted in the attached photographs, participated in the research, citing the enhancement of endurance and relief of joint and muscle pain associated with repetitive movement. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy improves performance and endurance among professional and amateur dancers and is beneficial in restoring neurotransmitters, such as dopamine and serotonin, chemicals vital to brain function, learning, coordination, and concentration. This revolutionary research and application of hyperbaric medicine to sports injuries and endurance enhancement in the dancing profession lends itself to use among athletes in many of the performing arts, including ballet.
