The purpose of this video is to express my opinion and the opinions of United employees and customers on the United-Continental merger which took place on 1 October 2010. So there has been a lot of backlash on the new United livery, and a lot of people were in favor of keeping the tulip-shaped "U' symbol designed by Saul Bass in 1973. There is a Facebook page called "Save The United Airlines Tulip" and I joined that group about two months ago. I’ve seen users come up with their own proposed liveries for the combined airline so I decided to do one myself. What I did was I combined the elements from both airlines (ie I made the United "blue" livery from 2004 look kinda Continental) but I mostly used elements from United. For instance, the Continental globe was removed and a blue and silver tulip is in its place. The gold stripe on the fuselage and winglets were replaced by a light-blue stripe, and the gray on the plane's belly was replaced by the same shade of blue as on the tail and winglets. I photoshopped pictures of Continental planes and put them into my proposed livery and uploaded them to the Facebook page.
