I asked for our tix in Italian, but the cashier was unimpressed. Rick and I both like Plinio Nomelli very much and were shocked that the Italian women were handling and photographing the clothing on display. We think they were fashion students. We went straight from Pitti to Uffizi (we were glad that Antonio's wife Rosanna made reservations for us). We went straight to the top floor and walked down long corridors and marveled at statue after statue lit by the sun shining through the tall windows. All of the placards were in Italian, but we were able to make out some of the greek gods and goddess names. We saw enough Madonna con Bambino to get us free tickets into heaven, we think, or at least a day pass. The virgin must have a million faces. There's lots of blood and death, too, and very few where Christ was happy (except as a baby). I didn't know that The Birth of Venus and Primavera are both in the Uffizi, and I cried when I saw Venus. Also, I think all women look beautiful as marble statues. We saw the head of Napolean in Pitti Palace and even he looked handsome and strong.
