iReport — Meet Tak Miyata, Executive VP of Mixi in Japan. With over 25 million users, Mixi is one of Japan’s largest social media companies. Within 2 days of the mega-quake devestating parts of the country, Mixi has already raised over $1.5 million dollars for a Japan relief fund — though a pledge option when people sign in.Mixi is "community entertainment." That is, it is about meeting new like-minded people with common interests through various online social activities such as blog/diary entries, message posts on walls, online message dialogues, picture posting, etc. As its name implies, it's a sort of mix of various other social media formats all wrapped up into one. Registration requires a valid Japanese cellphone number, which prevents anyone who is not, or has not been, a Japanese resident. The maximum possible number of myMIXI  a user allowed to have is 1,000.
