Officials on the scene said a family was in the plane. A man and a woman were killed in the wreck. A girl between the ages of four and six was taken to Huntsville Hospital by a medical helicopter, and a boy between the ages of six and eight old was also taken to a hospital by helicopter. Guntersville Police Chief Jim Peterson said the plane was a Piper low wing general aviation aircraft. It is unclear whether it was arriving or departing. It landed on Buck Island in Marshall County. WAFF 48 News' Stephen McLamb is reporting that the plane is in four pieces with a wing completely broken off, the fuselage burned, and the tail section broken off. Several emergency crews responded to the scene. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Admission are headed to the scene. ##
