It’s ironic really. That a story of witches and wizards and their fight to defeat Lord Voldemort could ring so true to what's going on today. Only our fight isn't in some abandoned castle. It's here at home. The Dementors prowl our schools disguised as students- bullies, and those people who just sit back and watch. They name call, physically and verbally abuse, and threaten. Or just do nothing. They take all the happiness and joy from their victims and they make them feel alone. But they aren't. I will never be as brave as the Harrys, the veterans, who bear their scars from the government's rude and unnecessary dismissal. They pledged their lives to serve our country, but I will not give up their fight. And I am not alone. The Gryffindors are brave and wise and are fighting back. They are forming their own Dumbledore's Army. NOH8. The Trevor Project. It Gets Better. The Death Eaters are panicking and think that by making something taboo, we will be afraid of it. He Who Mustn't Be Named. Don't Ask Don't Tell. It all makes sense. The fight that seems unwinnable But they will not win. In the end, good triumphs over evil. Please know that you are not alone. There are so many people and community outreach programs that are here to help. Please know that it gets better. And never give up the fight.
