Egypt on Saturday eased restrictions on border crossings for residents of the Gaza Strip, allowing hundreds of Palestinians to leave the enclave for the first time in years. Palestinians are hailing the move as the beginning of the end of a blockade enforced by Israel and Egypt on the territory. The decision follows the ouster earlier this year of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, whose government, along with Israel, enforced the blockade aimed at the enclave’s Islamist leadership. VOA correspondent Luis Ramirez traveled to the Rafah border crossing between the Gaza Strip and Egypt.
