I mixed these together in my home studio in January of '04 when Howard Dean graced us all with such great source material. I cut his speech up pretty severely, and did it in a bit of a rush and then wore out and passed it on in this form. I remember wishing I’d fixed this and that. Listening back, I can't hear many of the things that made me cringe (that I figured I'd go back and tweak someday — uhhhh, right). It is HD's speech for the most part, obviously edited for cadence and meter pretty harshly, mixed with parts of "No Turning Back" by Stormtroopers of Death. I remember being thrilled to find the parts all fitting together. That was a long time ago, and there wasn't much of an emphasis on metatags back then, so it just got passed to friends as "meandean.mp3" with no attribution. It ended up on Howard Stern and some other places like that, and I was just tickled that so many people got to hear it. I was pretty psyched, and never went on an "I DID THAT" crusade. So maybe this makes up for that. If you search for "mean_dean.mp3," or "meandean.mp3" it shows up in lots of places, and you can delve deep into metatags -- you'll see that I'm in there somewhere. I was reading about Dean today and thought of this song. I figured that it MUST be on YouTube or out there in the Google tubes, but I didn't find it right away except under that mp3 filename.
