fire fighters faced strong winds as they took on a fire in southwest albuquerque this morning. if you were anywhere in the area ... there’s a good chance you saw a huge plume of thick smoke minute thumbnail 05:03 pm which could be seen for miles. jeff maher is live near bridge and atrisco to tell us why someone could end up being arrested for the fire. jeff. the bernalillo county fire chief says the fire here today was likely intentionally set. right now arson investigators are combing through the debris to try and salvage some evidence. the chief says with the strong winds at the time, it's fortunate that the fire didn't spread to the neighboring homes. a cloud of smoke fills the air as firefighters try to put out the flames burning at two separate buildings side by side "we were in there watching tv and then all of the sudden my dogs started going crazy and i was like, something is going on out there" the fire happened suddenly around 11-30 this morning. and it burned fast. fortunately, fire crews were able to put it out before it spread to any homes next door "it was way worse and then that one almost started on fire too, the fire department came just in time" fortunately minute thumbnail 05:04 pm nobody was hurt — and nothing was lost, because the two buildings were vacant. firefighters had to act fast -- battling tough winds and tight space "one of the concerns when our crews arrived, was there was a lot of vehicles parked alongside the one that was by the fenceling and so we did have them move the vehicles just out of precaution" chief john garcia says it's unclear if there were any homeless people using the vacant buildings. but he says the fire likely did not start by itself "it was most likely intentionally set, it had plenty of time to take effect of the full entire structure" the fire chief says one of the buildings is a total loss -- the other was saved. they will spend the rest of the afternoon collecting evidence. so far no one has been cha...
