Flew into Auckland and lovely welcome at the airport from Chelsea, my old work colleague, and her two gorgeous girls Liv and Meg. Fleeces back on again and time to also break out the waterproofs as tipping it down when we arrive. Chelsea had kindly offered to put us up for a few days, so we had a perfect base in Remuera, just a short bus ride into the city. Spent our first day getting our bearings and exploring the main CBD area, taking in the water front area and AUcklands Land mark building the Sky Tower. At 328m its the tallest building in the Southern Hemisphere (or so they say) The tower can be viewed from a variety of angles,the ground looking up, the top looking out though from the observation deck, or for those who want a bit more fresh air there's the option to do a Sky walk, where you are harnessed up and can walk round a viewing platform on the outside of the tower. If that still isnt enough there is also the option of throwing yourself off headfirst with a Sky Jump. We'd decided to ration our adrenaline and make sure we have some left for the South Island so settled for standing on the pavement and looking up as people in jump ...
