Instant messaging has been popular with teens for years, and a survey by the Associated Press and AOL found that adults are using it to communicate with each other too. Nearly 75 percent of those adults, however, said they preferred e-mail to IM.

Most people thoughtlessly toss rubber bands in the trash after the simple devices have fulfilled their duty of keeping the morning’s newspaper tightly rolled. But Roelof Vos, Netherlands doctoral student, used a rubber band to win an American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics award.

By the end of May, anyone with a KUID will be able to access wireless Internet from any building on the University of Kansas Lawrence campus. Last week all classrooms and public areas in Fraser Hall and Wescoe hall received wireless access.

In an expansion of a project that began in 2006, the Student Senate and KU Information Services are pushing ever forward on expanding KU’s wireless capability. The plan calls for increasing signal strength in areas and even adding entirely areas of connectivity.
