A new exhibition, the biggest German arts project in China to date, opens to the public at what claims to be the biggest museum in the world, the recently renovated National Museum in Beijing. The exhibition is presented by prestigious state museums in Berlin, Dresden and Munich and opens on April 1.It centers on art from the European Enlightenment - and happens to be housed in a museum located right next to Tiananmen Square, site of the pro-democracy demonstrations in 1989. Freedom instead of absolutism, reason instead of dogma: how politically enlightened is modern China?
