This is somewhat the manuscript if the sound quality is to poor... "It is time for a science lesson Dan! First we must define soundwaves. Soundwaves can be visually and mathematically described as a sine function. All sound comes to us in the form of a sine function. Regardless if the sound is spoken, if it comes from a violin, a trombone or a really expensive audio system. Analog sound and digital sound can both be described as the same sine function. Lets do a thought experiment. I want to send out soundwaves at 100 Hz. With a vinyl I make grooves that oscillates at 100 Hz and play it in a record player. If I want to send out soundwaves at 100 Hz digitally I tell a computer to make my speakers oscillate 100 times per second. The net result in both cases is the exact same sound. The conclusion to draw from this is: There is no difference between "analog sound waves" and "digital sound waves". But you say you can tell the difference between digital and analog music. And I wont argue with you, because now I will explain why analog and digital sound differently. Before I do that I will explain what music is from the physicist point of view. Lets say I have a trombone. I blow into my trombone and out comes soundwaves. I make my trombone to primarily send out soundwaves at 100Hz, but trombone also sends out overtones at 200, 300, 400 Hz and so on. All these tones combined gives the trombone its characteristic sound. If the first tone has the frequency x tone number n has the ...
