There is a pessimistic tone on the street, following some disappointing manufacturing data. Activity drastically slowed in New York state earlier this month. Lowe’s has slashed its full year outlook following disappointing first quarter earnings. However, JC Penney beat the street with its report.   The Nasdaq and Intercontinental Exchange are withdrawing their bid to acquire the NYSE Euronext. In other headlines, IMF Chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn was arrested over the weekend on rape charges.
