Expert to address tough issues and build girls' self esteem The increasing pressure girls face to do it all and do it perfectly is causing girls to pursue unattainable "super girl status" that is stressing them out and causing their self-esteem to plummet. In fact, seven in ten girls believe they are not good enough or do not measure up in some way, according to a Dove Self-Esteem Fund report. Parents can make a difference during the back-to-school period by helping girls navigate difficult issues around body image, boys, and the pressure to do well in school. While the top wish among girls is for their parents to communicate better with them, many parents just do not know how to start the conversation.
