Ai Weiwei, creator of Tate Modern’s 'Sunflower Seeds', was arrested on April 3 by the Chinese authorities. His whereabouts and the charges against him remain unknown. Fulton’s Slowalk (In support of Ai Weiwei) is a form of silent activism, in which he invites ordinary people to come together and walk very slowly, in formation, over a period of two hours. Fulton has been labelled a sculptor, photographer, Conceptual artist and Land artist. However, he characterises himself as a 'walking artist' and for the past three decades, the act of walking has been at the centre of his practice, presented through photography, text and sketches. Tate has issued a statement to the media calling for the immediate release of Ai Weiwei.
