Machine Translation has evolved notably in the last two decades. This talk introduces the main concepts related to Machine Translation. First, IBM word alignment models are described. Then, phrase-based models are explained as a natural extension of word alignment models. Finally, syntactic approaches are presented in order to deal with language pairs with different syntactic structure.
