Lia Ices' "Daphne," directed by L.A.-based director Aaron Brown (Focus Creeps) was shot in Sonoma, California. Opening in a lush, mysterious, pastoral setting, Lia is joined by a falcon and a young boy. At first the three remain separate yet appear unified in some undisclosed way, with Lia at the center and the bird and the child acting as extensions of her. The song is Lia’s personal reflection of the ancient myth of Daphne, describing one woman's transformation into a tree. It is a story that challenges our concepts of flight and attachment, transformation and rootedness, desire and captivity.
