Senator John McGee faces charges of felony grand theft and driving under the influence after his arrest last night. The Ada County Sheriff’s Office says they received a 911 call of a crash in a Meridian subdivision. When they arrived at the scene ? they found an intoxicated senator and a stolen vehicle. McGee registered a BAC of .15 on a breath test, according to authorities. Station Notes/Scripts: McGee somehow got into an unlocked Ford Excursion with an attached cargo trailer in a Meridian neighborhood, according to the sheriff's office. Witnesses say he drove it two houses down before it became jack-knifed in someone's yard around 2:30 a.m. The two boys who live at the house were up playing video games and heard the commotion. "He's just walking barefoot in our front yard and down our road," said Jonah Carleton. "I think he saw us and got spooked and ran off to the truck and got in and just sat there." Tire tracks on the driveway mark the spots where the vehicle got stuck. "He was in the back seat and I asked him what he was doing," said father Joe Carleton. "He said, 'I'm looking for the Promised Land.' I said 'You're in the wrong land ? this is not the Promised Land.'" "Then he saw my wife in the window with a robe on and he says, 'There's an angel.' I called 911 right away," he said. Carleton made the call to police after recognizing the vehicle as his neighbor's. He says McGee seemed more than just drunk. "It seemed like there was something else," he said. "He was very dazed and confused. His legs were cut up; his shorts were dirty." ## Elements: vo of smashed car at accident scene ##
