Southwest Airlines (LUV) has put in a bid of $170 million for Frontier Airlines, upping the ante in an auction for the bankrupt airline that will begin tomorrow.  Regional airline Republic Airways (RJET) bid $108.8 million previously, and has not yet said whether it will try to outbid Southwest.
