Curators of new media, net activists, writers and artists discussed the link between global capitalism and digital art This symposium responded to Tate Britain’s Art and Money Online exhibition, with a series of panel discussions and talks. The event asked whether net artists' opposition to capitalism is plausible or desirable in the current economic condition. A fresh and interdisciplinary approach was taken to this visual politics debate, as economists, geographers, and writers added their views. Parallel sessions on globalisation and gender, culture and technology, astrology, and web site construction were also included.ProgrammeSession 1WelcomeJulian Stallabrass, Curator, Art and Money OnlineOpening AddressFrank Guerrero & Ray Thomas, USA RTMark, USA PlayGlobalisation, Capitalsim and Cultural ImperialismJohn Tomlinson, Nottingham Trent University, UKPresentations and PanelIntroduction by Julian Stallbrass, Curator, Art and Money OnlineJon Thomson and Alison Craighead, Thomson & Craighead, UKJackie Hatfield, Womens Research Group, UKJosephine Berry, Mute Magazine, UK Session 2Demonstration: How to Build Your Own WebsiteJames Wallbank, Redundant Technology Initiative, UKNet.artJulian Stallabrass, Curator, Art and Money OnlinePanel Discussion: Resistance, Capitalism and Art OnlineJulian Stallabrass, Curator and WriterJames Wallbank, Redundant Technology InitiativeJon Thomson and Alison Craighead, ArtistsJackie Hatfield, Womens Research GroupJoshua Portway, ArtistFrank Guerrero & Ray Thomas, RTMark
