Evs1210’s travel blog entry: "Hola It's not every day that you bump in to someone from your home town in the middle of Malaysia so I landed up staying an extra day in Penang and headed out with Chappel and his mates that night. After a tasty Indian meal we went to a Japanese festival that was on as part of the month long cultural festival there. There was some fairly iffy acts on as part of the entertainment but it was all quite amusing to watch and the evening was rounded off with a pretty cool firework display. The following morning I took a boat from Penang to Langkawi which would have been a lot nicer if the boat hadn't stunk of vom due to a large proportion of the passengers getting seasick en route. Langkawi is basically a large island and the beach I stayed at had a random mix of Arabs, Indians, Chinese & Europeans on budgets ranging from 5* to backpackers so it was often quite a surreal experience! Having eventually made it to my hostel I soon settled and my daily routine for the week was basically as follows: Wake up, breakfast, beach, lunch, beach, watch amazing sunset, shower, dinner, beverage, bed. Throw in a couple of games of footy on the beach and you can understand why I've been a pretty happy man here. As luck would have it the local fruit shop also sold beers for 30 pence a can which meant my daily fruit intake ...
