Comerica (NYSE:CMA) announced that its application to acquire Sterling Bancshares (NASDAQ:SBIB) has been approved by the board of governors of the Federal Reserve System. Worldwide PC shipments surpassed 85.2M units in the second quarter of 2011, a 2.3% increase from the same period last year, according to preliminary results by Gartner (NYSE:IT). GlaxoSmithKline (NYSE:GSK) and Human Genome Sciences (NASDAQ:HGSI) announced that the European Commission granted marketing authorization for their lupus treatment drug, BENLYSTA.
