An interview with John Meadow, a participant at Monday’s peaceful demonstration outside Toronto police headquarters. The demonstration came in response to a violent G20 weekend: peaceful protesters and bystanders were detained, searched, arrested, pepper sprayed, beaten, shot at with rubber bullets, and trampled by horses, all in the name of catching a small group of people who broke windows and set police cars on fire. Around 1,500 people showed up and marched from police headquarters to city hall, and then on to the Ontario provincial parliament building. John makes the case for why this issue should matter to everyone, not just people who consider themselves activists or have been involved in protests in the past.
