November 15, 2010 – WTHI-TV has been named Station of the Year by the Indiana Broadcasters’ Association for the second consecutive year.  The IBA also awarded WTHI-TV with its highest honor, Service to Indiana award for its community service efforts. This marks the first time a non-Indianapolis station has been bestowed this honor. Last year, LIN Media sister-station WISH-TV took home the coveted prize. “What outstanding honors for the Wabash Valley, our viewers and staff. This is a total team effort required by all of our community partners and employees,” said Todd Weber, WTHI-TV president and general manager. “We have been recognized locally, for our ‘Making a Difference’ campaign, and it is gratifying to be recognized by our broadcasting peers, on the state level, for our ‘Leading the Way’ efforts. Every puzzle piece has to fall into place and stay in place to maintain this success.” The Service to Indiana award salutes a station’s overall community service efforts during the year. It recognizes their dedication to serving the public interest, representing the true meaning and spirit of localism. In addition to the Service to Indiana and Station of the Year awards, News 10 also took the evening’s other top awards for best News Special/Documentary for Amanda Jarrett and Mike Latte’s “New Age Predators” and Community Involvement for “Season of Giving.” “It’s always a great honor to be recognized by your peers,” said Susan Dinkel, WTHI-TV news director. “That stamp of approval means a lot to our team. We Strive for excellence daily, and these awards reinforce that we are ‘Making a Difference’ in our community and are truly ‘Leading the Way’.” The Spectrum Awards recognizes broadcast excellence for outstanding achievement in broadcasting by Indiana radio and television stations.
