I remember that night, just over 24 years ago. Sherri and I were going over to her parent’s house in Topeka for Thanksgiving break. Sherri & I had been dating since the spring of that year. I was a senior in college and she was a junior. I was about to make all her dreams come true! She didn’t know yet, but I had planned to stop at a park just a few blocks from her parent’s house. We had spent time there during the summer when I would come to visit her.  I took Sherri into the Rose Garden area of the park. We sat down on a bench and there I presented her with a diamond ring and asked her to be my wife. It was a moment we will never forget. There in that Rose Garden was the beginning of a love relationship that will last our entire lives. On this Valentine’s Day, a day that is known for love, we continue in a proclamation of what we believe is a picture of a Holy life. 1-John 4:19 “We love because He first loved us.” We will best understand and assimilate this relationship with Jesus Christ, when we begin to believe that He loves us. His love will change everything in our life! When we think of the source of all love, it will always be because of Jesus Christ’s transforming love. Love is why we can be Holy people. When we know that He loves us and when we understand how much He loves us, we begin to respond with love for Him and others. The work of the Holy Spirit is a Holy work of Divine love. We are now filled with His Spirit and can love Him and others because His love has exploded in our lives. His love has set us free from hatred, anger and bitterness. The greatest manifestations of the Spirit-filled life will be Holy love! When this love is lived out, it can change the world! As a matter of fact, it did change the world 2,000 years ago from a hill called Calvary! Praise His Holy Name! I am so glad you are here! In His Holy Love! Pastor Shawn
