We spent 2 days in the Serrengeti (means "endless plains" in Swahili) and 2 days in the Ngorongoro Crater. We got to see the "Big 5": Lion, Leopard, African Buffalo, Elephant, and Rhino. Most them we saw 2-3 times. We only saw the Rhino from the distance, so it looked like a rock even with the binoculars. We were there for the "Great Migration" and just before the calving season for the Wildebeest and Zebra, so we were seeing many very pregnant animals. On safari we stayed in semi-permanent tents. They had real beds, safari/bucket shower, and a port-a-potty. They were really nice compared to our sleeping bags and tents on the mountain. We drove around in safari trucks/vans. They had raised roofs, so that you could stand up and look at the animals or take pictures, instead of looking through windows. I really liked going on safari. There were some really cool moments: a lioness walked no more than 2 feet away from the truck, we got to see to male Giraffes fight, we got to see 5 lion cubs, we saw a Warthog wallow in the mud right in the middle of the road, we saw many 9-10 month old Zebra, we saw 6 cheetahs (one of them had a gash in the right back leg) over the course of one day, and we got to see a baby Rhino (from a distance).
