Good Morning. It’s Friday, July 15, 2011. At this hour, U.S. equity futures are higher. Overseas, the Asian markets mixed, while the European markets are down. News Corp. (NASDAQ:NWSA) announced the appointment of Tom Mockridge as CEO of News International effective immediately following the resignation of Rebekah Brooks. Carl Icahn disclosed that on July 14, he sent a letter to Donald Knauss, CEO of Clorox (NYSE:CLX), pursuant to which Icahn made a proposal to acquire all of the issued and outstanding shares not owned for $76.50 per share net in cash. BHP Billiton (NYSE:BHP) and Petrohawk Energy Corp. (NYSE:HK) announced they entered into a definitive agreement for BHP to acquire Petrohawk for $38.75 per share in an all-cash offer for all of the issued and outstanding shares of Petrohawk, representing a total equity value of approximately $12.1B and a total enterprise value of approximately $15.1B, including the assumption of net debt. Ralcorp (NYSE:RAH) announced that its board unanimously agreed in principle to separate Ralcorp and Post Foods in a tax-free spin-off to Ralcorp shareholders.
