On May 9th 2010, the oppressive regime of Iran executed five innocent young Kurdish political prisoners as “enemies of God”. None of them were received fair trials in Iranian court systems and none of the accusations against them were proved in court. Farzad Kamangar, a 32-year-old Iranian Kurdish teacher, poet, journalist, human rights activist, and social worker from the city of Kamyaran is among them. Farzad Kamangar was a Kurdish teacher, arrested in the month of Mordad 1385. During his months of incarceration, he was exposed to extreme mental and physical torture which he described in a letter. He was sentenced to death in Esfand of 1386. In a letter written to the head of the judiciary on the 15th of Bahman, Kamangar had requested a retrial. Mehdi Islamian was arrested on the 14th of Ordibehesht 1388 and spent six months in solitary confinment. His brother has also been executed. Shirin Alam Holi was arrested on Ordibehesht 1387 in Tehran and sentenced to death. Ali Heydarian, Farhad Vakili and Farzad Kamangar had been in jail since 1385. Many viewed their hasty court process as “unjust”.
