I decided to go and explore Ecuador for a week and return to the school the following Monday. So today I travelled to Tena, 5 hours by bus from Quito. Thankfully the buses here in Ecuador are fairly nice coaches and you get a seat. Walking around Tena was quite amusing because the main street is being replaced and is currently fully of diggers and workmen, who you have to walk around to get anywhere. The HSE in England would have a field day! Day 44 -- Monday 7 June Rafting! Today was fantastic. I did a 38km class 4 trip with "River People" in Tena (www.riverpeoplerafting.com). The trip starts on the Jondachi River which then joins the Hollin round about lunch time. The views were fantastic. I think you probably get further into the pristine jungle on this rafting tour than on a lot of the actual jungle trips people go on. The primary rainforest on each side of the river for the whole trip was pretty spectacular and I lost count of the number of waterfalls we passed along the way. We stopped off at some of them too for a back massage. We had about 5 hours on the river with a mix of class 3 and 4 rapids. It was really good fun with lots of ...
