Very little is known in the west about the sacrifices Algeria made for the allies in world war one. On April 22, 1915, the 45 th Algerian regiment together with (the 87th territorial regiment) Canadians were caught in the first gas attack on the western front. Algerians were buried along side Canadians at St Julien,Belgium. Algerians also lost their lives all over France in Verdun and Marne and their divisions helped the allies win the war. I did not find many videos about the Algerian’s contribution to World War One but there is an amazing movie called Les Indigenes about Algerian involvement in World War 2.
