After watching this video, two points should be clear to you: 1. that the West and the East, that Christianity and Islam are not mutually exclusive of each other. It is not a dualistic battle between two forces as Islamic culture is present in the West and Christian culture present in the East. 2. that not all Arabs are Muslim nor are all Muslims Arab. Neither is a monolithic entity, but rather each is an immensely diverse community. Last semester I spent studying abroad in Mexico City and I took an Arabic class when I was there. The very first question my Arabic teacher asked me was why I wanted to study Arabic and I replied that I was interested in Islam and wanted to better understand the faith. My teacher was actually offended by my immediate association of the Arabic language with the Islamic religion because he was a Maronite Catholic priest, native to Lebanon. Significant non-Muslim populations exist in Palestine as well as Jordan due to Chaldean immigration from Iraq. And the largest Muslim country is Indonesia, which is not an Arab country.
