The little town of Canasí, in the heart of Cuba, has a terrible curse: it is degrading itself and people think it is going to disappear. It happens because a girl called Malila was raped two centuries ago by an unknown man. Her father, an expert wizard, made a spell: Canasí has to be cursed until Malila had found peace. In 2003 Malila appeared through a vision of a santera, an 83 years old woman called Lucía. Malila, who’s soul was still suffering, told her the ritual to save Canasí: 1) beg for money on the street; 2) with that money make a mass and dedicate it to Malila herself; 3) go to the place where Malila was raped and scream 3 times her name. After that... no more curse. Is Lucía going to succeed in her mission? It seems a screenplay written for a movie but it is not. It is a real myth. Part of the Canasí population really believe that.
