Prof Simon van Belle speaks about the CHOICE study investigating the use of Aranesp (darbepoetin alfa) to treat cancer patients with chemotherapy-induced anaemia. Prof van Belle reports that this drug has successfully increased haemoglobin levels in over 60% of patients, stresses the importance of starting treatment at the correct stage and explains how the CHOICE trial has clarified when treatment should be stopped.
