This video was filmed on September 2009, at Harold Sanders’ (guitarist) recording studio. Like all of my videos, I used improvised low-budget techniques. Between Harold and me it took from 9 to 10 hours to organize the studio to start brainstorming ideas on how and what were we going to film in the first place. Eventually, we designed and built a small set. It took probably 2 to 3 hours for the actual filming process. We covered the walls with black sheets, hanging them up with thumbtacks. Our main (and only) source of illumination, were two par cans that Harold was able to borrow from a friend. We used a blue filter on one of them and a red one on the other one and rigged them with a “modified” microphone stand and camera stand. We were also able to obtain a green “light rope.” It doesn’t work as a practical light, but it looked cool. I hung it from the ceiling light mounts and tied one end to the bass player’s keyboard stand. Eventually we began filming. I used a Nikon d90. A friend of ours was there (Karlos X Ramos: KX0101.com, and I was able to use one of his great low-light shooting lenses and a fish-eye lens. You might notice that there are a lot of shots in which the blues and reds are over exposed. I shot it that way on purpose. The over exposed look didn’t bother me because I think the overall result turned out pretty cool. The footage you see in the video is raw, no filters, no color correction, just straight out of the camera footage. Feel free to leave comments and let me know what you think. Please, enjoy.
