Before being released, sensors are fixed to these turtles to monitor their voyages in our seas. In fact, a turtle named Vicky, who was injured and whose hand had to be amputated, managed to swim up to Sicily, Sardinia and down to Algeria.  Some schools who won the green flag or the YRE (Young Reporters for the Environment), like our school, were invited to take part in today’s release. One student from every school was chosen to release the turtles from their container, and find their way to the sea. This experience was fascinating and very satisfying as we really felt that we were doing something concrete to help our environment. We truly hope that these nine turtles have good luck and not end up eating more plastic bags or be trapped by fishermen again!!
