Thomasgillam’s travel blog entry: "We spent the next day poking around the neighborhood bazaar. The streets are packed with people, vehicles, bikes, trucks and animals. We wandered the streets, were pestered somewhat by the touts and the beggars. They do seem to take no for an answer after much pleading. Generally you need to move along to separate yourself from them. I have tried to give my few rupees to the most needy. I can recall a man with no hands and a double amputee that I gave money to. I try to be discreet, so as not to attract a horde of others. It is hard to see this level of suffering and need. It is hard to aim your camera at it, take the shot and move on. It affects you, but what can I do to? There is terrific poverty here. Overpopulation is a heavy burden on the culture. They don't seem to have a plan like the Chinese. I believe India will surpass China in population in the near future. We met a woman at our Hotel Ajanta, named Mrs. Ravi. After some discussions, we elected to hire a car and driver for the first leg of our journey. Car and Driver hire is quite common here. You pay a set fee, which includes hotels (breakfast included) and the driver, car, fuel and parking is included.
