Its one of those places you hear so often, like Tuscany, or Florence. One of those destinations almost attached to fairytale or mythology. South of France, Provance, green pastures and hills , small villages, wells, and farmhouses. "Provance", the word, becomes........."Provance" an expression, destination, a hope or dream. Does it let your expectations or hopes down ? Certainly not. Enchanting, beautiful, confidant and ohhh so green. The only problem is that the secret of Provance is out. and tourists from all around the world are chasing the dream and enchantment. Ashley had read about an acient monastery (built in the 12th Century) which self supports itself through the growing of lavender and production of lavender oil. For Ashley, who is a self confessed olfact-a-phile (ie. olfactory = smell, phile= lover, therefore a lover of aromas and smells). Lavender, monks, ancient monastery, gardening.........how could you keep Ashley away. Impossible. On the way to the moanstery at Senanque we discovered the village/town of Gordes. Refer the picture.......how absulutely gorgeous !!!!!! It was like an amazing mirage aswe turned the corner of a high country road and saw the vista of the town. Now this is deep Provance.
