I had never been thru Frankfurt airport and hope I never have to go thru there again. First of all, it looks like some abandoned Soviet era building like something you would expect to see in the former East Germany. Secondly, I'm not sure where the famed German efficiency is but it is not at that airport. Who knew the Germans could make the TSA look efficient and serious? Even the Italians are more alert and faster at getting people thru security. The Germans basically stand there and make sure you put every bag and parcel in a bin, then they stop and take a break, have a chat then let a few more people thru. We had to keep reminding ourselves that we only paid a minimal fee for our flights but were happy to get out of that airport. Everything has been great since we arrived. I had forgotten how nice people are here. The girl at the Avis counter, after seeing our luggage, took us out to lot to try out different cars for the trunk space. LA won the prize for the largest and heaviest suitcase at 60 lbs. Had a nice scenic route drive into Edinburgh because I couldn't remember exactly where we were going but eventually we made it into the city centre. The Apex Waterloo is right by ...
