For some fun, compare Beyonce’s original, which I copied as closely as possible: If it is true that “imitation is the sincerest of flattery,” then in our age of pop culture, replication can be considered an ironic stance toward our pantheon of celebrity gods.  In the case of this reconstruction of Beyonce’s “Still in Love (Kissing You),” its value builds on and exceeds that of the original. This is because “the unexamined life is not worth living,” and therefore this work (dare I call it “Better Than Beyonce”?) presents a sophistication lacking in the original. Popular works are consumed by the vast majority of the current “hip” demographic without a hint of irony. This is due to an ignorance of history.
