The proud owner of this tailgate table, Fred "Pappy" Boyle, has been bring this metal fold-up table to Steelers tailgates since the 70’s. What started as a quick stomp on it (to close it up) before packing it away, has turned in to a table stomping tradition for over 300 games. The anticipation builds and the crowd gathers in a circle around Pappy, as he unravels the duct tape off the legs. Someone other than him gets the honor of trampling on it these days. He rises up & makes eye contact, points his long and creaky finger at the lucky spectator and says "YOU!" The expectation is to trounce on that table to signify a Steelers beat-down on the opponent that day. The compilation of these few short videos were taken with my old cell phones over the years, so the quality is poor. Nonetheless, it's been a blast to watch in person. Let me tell you, it sets the tone for the walk to Heinz Field on game day. Although it still has a couple seasons left it, Pap has donated the ancient, banged up and rusty table to the Hall of Fame. Some day it will stand proud for the rest of Steeler Nation to enjoy when they visit Canton.
