SUGGEST ARCHIVE: ## Shot 05/27/2010. ## House Judiciary Oil Spill Liability Hrg, DESCRIPTION: On Thursday, three people affected by the BP rig explosion and oil spill will be testifying before the U.S. House Judiciary Committee about legal liability issues. The hearing will begin at 10:00 am in 2141 Rayburn.   The witnesses for this hearing include: Keith Jones, father of Gordon Jones, who was one of 11 workers who died in the rig explosion. Gordon is survived by a wife and two sons, one who was born less than two weeks ago. The amount Gordon’s family can recover is severely limited because of a current law called the Death on the High Seas Act. The law was amended in 2000 so victims of TWA Flight 800 could recover full damages after dying on the 'high seas,' but the same protections were not extended to those killed on vessels like the Transocean rig.
