BONFIM - A famous church a little way out of Salvador where people go to pray and make wishes for absolutely everything. Every wish is made by tying a coloured ribbon to a part of the church, sometimes with an accompanying photo, letter or item relating to the wish (ie, for operations, people bring plastic limbs which now hang eerily from the ceiling of various chambers). Each local football team visits at the start of the season to ask for good luck... not sure how that exactly works if they´re all asking, but hey. I made a few wishes, and still have two tied to my wrist... CAPOEIRA - Salvador has a huge African influence, and is especially seen as the home of Capoeira in Brazil as the slaves used to use it to practice their forbidden religion. We saw all ages, men and women... couldn´t keep your eyes off. MOQUECA - magic local cuisine curry-stew like mixture, shrimp base with coconut milk, peppers, onions... ILHA DOS FRADES - Boat Trip out to Ilha dos Frades (island of brothers) and Itaparica... soft white beaches, hot hot sun, three piece samba band on board, brazilians starting drinking at 9am once again... BARRA SUNSET - drinking cocktails and watching the beautiful sun down behind the Barra lighthouse. And not forgetting... Women in Candomble outfits, Wellwishers ...
